Going the Extra Mile for Mental Health: Nick Takes on the epic London to Brighton Ultra Challenge
This May, one of our own is going above and beyond to make a real difference for mental health in our community.
Nick, one of our dedicated Floating Support Workers, is taking on the London to Brighton Ultra Challenge from 23rd–26th May 2026, covering an incredible 100km of demanding trails, hills and relentless terrain. It’s a challenge that will test his physical and mental limits and he’s doing it all to raise vital funds for South East and Central Essex Mind.
This is not just a walk. It’s an endurance event that requires months of preparation, resilience, and sheer determination. Nick is pushing himself to the limit so that others don’t have to face their mental health struggles alone.
“When we take on a physical challenge most of the battle is in our mind, and by doing these tough challenges we can strengthen that and use it for day to day life”
Why This Matters
Nick works within our Floating Support service, a community-based service that helps people with poor mental health stay well, maintain their independence, and prevent crises that could lead to hospital admissions or NHS intervention. Every day, he supports individuals to build confidence, manage challenges, and access the right help at the right time.
The funds raised through this challenge will help ensure that life-changing mental health support continues to be available for people across mid and south Essex when they need it most.
Every Step Makes a Difference
Mental health services rely heavily on fundraising to meet growing demand. Whether it’s a small donation or a larger contribution, every pound raised helps us be there for our community, offering support, hope and practical help to those who need it.
Nick’s commitment reflects the values we stand for: compassion, perseverance and a belief that no one should face mental ill health alone.
