A Holistic Approach to

Drug and Alcohol Recovery

At South East and Central Essex Mind, we're proud to be delivering a new drug and alcohol recovery initiative in partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council—bringing essential mental health support to our local community.

Thanks to this funding, we're able to offer a project that reaches more people in Southend who are living with or recovering from substance misuse. Our aim is to support individuals on their journey to wellbeing and recovery, helping them stay well, build resilience, and feel more connected in daily life.

We know that movement can be a powerful tool for boosting mood, reducing anxiety, and strengthening the mind-body connection. By bringing people together through group fitness sessions, peer support, and open conversations, we’re creating a safe space where recovery is supported and stigma is challenged.

In partnership with Yard Fitness, this project blends the benefits of physical activity with compassionate mental health support.

  • Supporting Men’s Mental Health

This initiative also shines a spotlight on men’s mental health—particularly the barriers that stop many men from opening up about how they’re feeling. Through targeted sessions and a strong focus on peer connection, we aim to challenge stereotypes and promote the message that asking for help is a sign of strength.

  • Building a Stronger, Healthier Community

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.We believe that everyone deserves the chance to live well and feel connected. We’re taking a step forward in making recovery support in Essex more accessible, inclusive, and holistic. Together, we’re not just supporting individuals—we’re helping to build a healthier, more resilient community.
