A night of Celebration, Purpose and Hope as Barrons celebrated 30 years.

On Friday 6th February, South East and Central Essex Mind were honoured to attend a black-tie event at The Boat Yard in Leigh-on-Sea, hosted by Barrons as they celebrated an incredible 30 years of their accountancy business.

The evening was not only a celebration of Barrons’ success, but also a powerful example of how businesses can use milestone moments to give back. We were especially proud to be invited as one of the directors of Barrons also serves as Chairman of South East and Central Essex Mind, strengthening the long-standing relationship between our organisations and our shared commitment to mental health and wellbeing in the local community.

Fundraising for Olivia’s Cabin

The event provided an important opportunity to raise funds for Olivia’s Cabin, a meaningful new space that will be situated within our gated supported housing location in Westcliff-on-Sea.

Olivia’s Cabin will be a dedicated wellbeing space designed to support residents during their stay with us, which can last up to two years. The cabin will:

  • Accommodate our supported housing staff

  • Provide a welcoming, calm space for counselling and therapeutic sessions

  • Offer residents a safe environment to focus on holistic wellbeing alongside their housing support

This project is a deeply personal and lasting legacy for a young woman who tragically died by suicide, ensuring that her memory lives on through a space that offers care, compassion and hope to others when they need it most.

It’s wonderful to have SECE Mind join us at our 30th anniversary black-tie event. As a business we are people focused and understand the challenges of mental health in the workplace. Our partnership with SECE Mind is based on their commitment to reduce, prevent and promote positive mental health

Making a Lasting Impact

Thanks to the generosity of those attending the evening, we are incredibly grateful to have raised £10,000 towards Olivia’s Cabin.

Olivia’s Cabin represents hope, healing and a commitment to supporting people at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. While this is a fantastic step forward, our fundraising journey continues. Further funds will help us bring the space fully to life, including:

  • Soft furnishings, furniture and decoration to create a warm and welcoming interior

  • The development of a therapy garden outside the cabin, giving residents access to nature, calm reflection and outdoor wellbeing during their stay

A huge thank you to Barrons and their clients for the launch of our 60th anniversary by joining in our 60 second fundraiser which has raised funds to invest in Olivia’s Hub allowing us to create long term impactful space for residents of Southend
— David Sollis, CEO of SECE Mind

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Barrons for their generosity, hospitality and commitment to mental health, and to everyone who attended and supported the fundraising efforts on the night. Events like this demonstrate the power of community, collaboration and compassion.

We look forward to continuing our fundraising for Olivia’s Cabin and sharing updates as this important project develops — creating a space that will support, heal and inspire for years to come.

Every donation, partnership and act of support helps us move closer to opening a space that will change lives.
