truGym Thorpe Bay raises £1000 for SECE Mind
truGym Thorpe Bay celebrated their third birthday with a huge fundraising event and raised £1000 for South East and Central Essex Mind while making space for people to have conversations about mental health.
To mark the third anniversary of their opening, truGym Thorpe Bay held an open weekend, offering full access to their spa and fitness facilities in exchange for a charitable donation to SECE Mind.
The event was open to the public and truGym members were encouraged to invite a friend to try something new, get active, and take some time for themselves. The truGym team regularly run fundraising events and love welcoming new faces into their community.
“truGym isn’t just a health club, we’re a community and we love to bring people together. People might come to the club to get fit, but that doesn’t always mean that they walk through the door with the best or healthiest mindset – part of what makes us ‘more than a gym’, as we like to say, is that we really get behind all of our members, whatever journey they’re on.
This event being in aid of SECE Mind meant that we could highlight the wonderful work they do, right on or doorstep, and open-up the conversation about mental health.
We’re so grateful to all our visitors and members who took part in our birthday weekend – we asked for a minimum donation of £3 but people were so generous, we were blown away
”
We’re delighted to share that truGym will be raising money for SECE Mind at their next fundraiser, a 24-hour fitness event! Participants will sign up to take part in 24 events over 24 hours, sponsor. The event will be open to everyone, not just their members, so make sure you’re following them on Instagram to find out how to sign up!
The team will also be joining us for 2025’s Mental Elf fun run, leading the group warm-up and running the 5km course to raise much-needed funds for SECE Mind.
“There are many benefits to physical activity, but one that can be overlooked is the sense of community it can bring. truGym and Mental Elf are great examples of the impact being part of a community can have. Thank you to the truGym team for organising the event and to everyone who donated. We look forward to seeing you at Mental Elf!”
