SECE Mind Delivers Mental Health Talk at Sweyne Park School

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we’re joining people across the globe in raising awareness and championing better mental health for everyone. This year’s theme reminds us all that by talking openly and supporting one another, we can help create a brighter, healthier future.

Ahead of this important day, South East and Central Essex Mind (SECE Mind) was invited to Sweyne Park School in Rayleigh to deliver a session on mental health and the support available to young people. The talk, aimed at Sixth Form students, was delivered in partnership with CrossFit Rayleigh and their founder, Damon Fouch, as part of our shared commitment to promoting wellbeing among young people.

During the session, SECE Mind CEO, David Sollis, and Damon Fouch introduced CrossFit Teens — a new, inclusive project funded by National Mind. The programme offers young people the opportunity to take part in accessible physical activity, regardless of their fitness level. It’s about more than just exercise — it’s about building confidence, fostering social connections, and supporting positive mental health.

It was a genuine pleasure to engage with over 60 young people — all dressed in yellow for World Mental Health Day! Working with CrossFit Rayleigh allows us to promote positive mental health, reduce the need for crisis support, and help young people stay well. Together, we’re making a difference.
— David Sollis, CEO of SECE Mind

World Mental Health Day is an important reminder that looking after our mental health matters every day — in schools, workplaces, and across our communities. By talking, listening, and supporting each other, we can help ensure that no one faces a mental health problem alone.

If you’d like SECE Mind to visit your school or community group to talk about mental health and wellbeing, we’d love to hear from you.
