Firefighter Mike completes challenging marathon in aid of SECE Mind

London Southend Airport, Aviation Firefighter, Mike Edwards completed the London Marathon in 4:03:42 for South East and Central Essex Mind raising an amazing £2600 which will be used to deliver much needed counselling services in Southend.

Speaking to us after the Marathon, Mike said:

“London was incredible, I struggled in the heat from mile 16, but I'm over the moon to have raised such a big amount for South East and Central Essex Mind. I couldn't have done it all without the support of my family. Seeing my wife and two boys out on the course really helped when I was questioning whether or not I'd finish.

I'm disappointed with my time, but the whole day was amazing. No better way to spend my birthday!"

SECE Mind CEO Dr David Sollis said “we simply cannot thank Mike enough for this effort, we all know the effort Mike puts in through his training and support for our charity. He is our Super Star, and his efforts will lead to vulnerable people being supported with their mental health”

Mike’s fundraising page is still open, if you are able to, please consider giving a donation here to congratulate him for his hard work.

South East and Central Essex Mind is a registered charity No.1148451
